Some helpful definitions:
- "ESSA" - English Schools Swimming Association - the governing body of schools swimming in England
- "Div 10" - Division 10 is one of 12 geographic regions in England and includes some northern London boroughs and northern home counties, Hertfordshire is one.
- "HSSA" - Hertfordshire Schools Swimming Association - Governing body for Hertfordshire schools swimming 
NOTE: Swimmers cannot participate in ESSA events (all those below) unless the school they attend is affiliated
            to ESSA, via the St Albans District School Swimming Association. The current affiliation period runs from
